CSED (Community Sport and Educational Development) Initiative is a sport for change NGO that started operation in May 2015. We are popularly known as CSED and we are registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria. CSED seek to use Nigerian children/youths participating in sports related activities to promote literacy and their social well-being. Especially those living in rural and urban communities in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.
Our goal is to develop well balanced future sports men and women. As well as to use sports to empower young persons to fulfil their potentials and achieve their dream of earning a living, while representing Nigeria in international sporting news. Since every student cannot become a career athlete in future; we will equip teachers and coaches with the knowledge and skills to keep students safe in the classrooms and in the sport fields.
The Niger Delta area of Nigeria is made up of nine states. However, it has produced more than sixty percent of athletes that have represented Nigeria in international sporting news. CSED will work with sport associations/federations, relevant Ministries (education, youths/sports, women and social development), corporate organisations, NGOs and CBOs to promote education, build the capacity of students and teachers; while promoting grassroots sports activities in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria. However, some of our past and future projects would be carried out in other parts of Nigeria.
Team CSED is made up of a volunteer group of ten seasoned professionals (Mental Health Consultant, Sport Administrator, Community Development Officer, Safeguarding Officer, Architect, Graphic Illustrator, Environmental Health Officer, Marketing Manager, Logistics Officer and broadcaster) who volunteer their time in carrying out CSED intervention programmes in the community.
